Personalised recommendationBest options for your homePricing for air conditioning in London varies more than most homeowners expect. Two identical rooms in two identical houses can differ by well over a thousand pounds once pipework routes, access and electrical supply are taken into account. This guide explains what you are actually paying for.
What a typical installation includes
A professional installation is far more than bolting a unit to a wall. Every quote we issue covers the equipment, the refrigeration pipework, condensate management, electrical connection, commissioning and the paperwork required under F-Gas regulations.
- Indoor and outdoor units from a recognised manufacturer
- Insulated refrigeration pipework and drainage
- Electrical supply, isolation and safe testing
- Commissioning, leak testing and handover
- Manufacturer warranty registration
Typical London price ranges
As a guide, a single wall-mounted split serving one bedroom or home office generally sits in the lower range, while multi-room systems with concealed pipework and plastered-in ducts sit considerably higher.
- Single split, straightforward external wall: entry level
- Single split with long or concealed pipe run: mid range
- Multi-split serving two to four rooms: upper mid range
- Ducted or concealed systems in period property: premium

“The cheapest quote is almost never the cheapest system. Undersized units and poor pipework cost far more in running costs and callouts than they ever saved on day one.”
What pushes the price up
Access and scaffolding
Outdoor units on upper floors, flat roofs or lightwells often need scaffolding or a tower. This is a genuine cost, and any quote that ignores it will change once work starts.
Electrical supply
If your consumer unit has no spare way, or the run to the outdoor unit is long, expect additional electrical work. We survey this before quoting so the number you receive is the number you pay.
